What We Are Creating

A simple, repeatable production system for Fabtech service techs to film POV machine repair videos in the field, upload them to Google Drive, and hand them to an editor who can produce finished YouTube tutorial content.

Service Tech InstructionsEditor HandoffGoogle Drive StructureTranscript + YouTube Assets

Success Standard

Everyone involved should be able to open this map and know exactly what to do without asking Drew, John, or the editor for missing instructions.

  • Raw footage is captured correctly.
  • Editor knows exactly where to look and what to deliver.
  • Final video and transcript are organized by date, tech, machine, and problem.

Full System Flow

Technician responsibility: the blue-highlighted blocks below are the exact parts of the system the service technician owns. Once the raw footage is uploaded, the technician path ends and the editor/publishing path begins.

Field Assignment

Tech is sent to a customer/site to service or repair a machine. Tech knows machine name and problem before recording.

GoPro Capture

Tech mounts GoPro to hat/chest and records the service from POV.

Opening Script

Tech states name, Fabtech Solutions, machine, and problem being solved.

Step Narration

Each major phase is introduced out loud: step one, next step, what to watch for, why it matters.

Closing Script

Tech asks viewers to follow/watch more metal fabrication machinery service tutorials.

Raw Upload

Tech transfers GoPro footage to computer and uploads to Google Drive raw intake folder.

Editor Intake

Editor monitors the folder, pulls new raw footage, and creates a working project folder.

Edit + Structure

Editor cuts dead space, adds intro, titles/lower thirds, step structure, and light audio cleanup.

Export Final Video

Editor exports the finished video for YouTube review and publishing.

Create Transcript

Editor transcribes final video and saves transcript as TXT/DOC.

Final Package

Editor saves final video + transcript into final exports folder organized by date, tech, machine, problem.

Publish Support

Fabtech/YouTube manager uses final video and transcript for YouTube title, description, captions, and upload.

Service Tech Script

Narration rule: assume the viewer is blind and only listening. They will be able to see the footage, but you should still explain every single step out loud. Assume nothing is obvious. Say what you are doing, why you are doing it, and what the viewer should pay attention to — even if it is crystal clear visually.

Opening

“Hey, my name is [TECH NAME] with Fabtech Solutions. Today we’re working on a [MACHINE NAME], and we’re going to fix [PROBLEM].”

During Repair

  • “Step one is…”
  • “Next step is…”
  • “Now we’re going to…”
  • “The reason we’re doing this is…”
  • “What you want to watch for here is…”

Closing

“If you like what you’re seeing here and want to watch more tutorial videos on fixing and servicing metal fabrication machinery, follow along and watch our other videos.”

Step-by-Step Technician Tutorial

Follow these steps in order when using the Fabtech technician video kit.

1

What’s in the bag?

Before leaving for a job, make sure the kit is complete.

  • Big bag: contains the entire kit — small GoPro bag, instruction manual, SD card reader, mounting harnesses, attachments, screws, plates, and all needed mount pieces.
  • Small bag: contains only the GoPro and extra SD card.
  • Every piece needed for any attachment should be in the big bag and should always be put back after use.
2

Choose the mount and attach the GoPro

Pick the mount that makes the most sense for the job.

  • Head mount: best POV of what the technician is seeing.
  • Chest mount: easier to see the GoPro screen while recording.
  • Wrist mount: included, but likely used less often.
  • Pull out the two tabs on the bottom of the GoPro, line them up with the GoPro plate, and tighten them together with the metal screw.
  • Lift the rubber tab on the mount, slide the GoPro in until it clicks, then push the rubber tab down to lock it.
  • Angle the camera and tighten the black screw so it will not move while recording.
3

Turn on the camera and start recording

Power on the GoPro, confirm the setting, and record.

  • Hold the power button on the left side underneath the number 13 until it beeps three times and the screen turns on.
  • Confirm the bottom of the screen says Video.
  • Confirm the lens setting says S and the circle above it says 1X.
  • If it does not say S, tap the lens setting and select 16 mm / S — not 12 mm.
  • Press the top button once to start recording. A red timer/pill should appear at the top and start counting up.
  • Press the same top button again to stop recording.
  • To turn off the camera, hold the same power button on the left side.
  • To remove the camera from the mount, lift the black/rubber tab, pinch the two plastic tabs, and push the camera out away from the mount.
4

Remove the SD card and connect it to a computer

Safely remove the micro SD card and plug it into the computer.

  • Pull down the tab on the right side of the camera and open the side door.
  • The battery and SD card are inside this compartment. This is also where the GoPro charges with USB-C.
  • Gently push the SD card deeper into the slot; the spring system will push it back out.
  • Notice the direction the SD card comes out so you can put it back the same way later.
  • Never force the SD card. It should slide in/out smoothly and click into place.
  • Put the SD card into the adapter and plug the adapter into your computer.
5

Upload the footage to Google Drive

Move the footage from the SD card into the correct upload folder.

  • Find the SD card in your files or from the desktop icon and double-click to open it.
  • Go through the folders until you find the video footage.
  • Open the Google Drive folder using the link below or by scanning the QR code.
  • Drag and drop the footage from the SD card folder into the Google Drive folder.
  • Wait until Google Drive shows the upload is completely finished and the files are visible in the folder.
  • Do not delete anything from the SD card until the upload is confirmed.

Google Drive Folder URL

Reminder: only move on to deleting footage after Google Drive shows the upload is complete and the files are visible in the folder.

6

Clear old video files off the SD card

Only clear the SD card after the upload is confirmed.

  • Go back to the SD card folder on your computer.
  • Select the video files on the SD card and move them to Trash.
  • Empty the Trash while the SD card is still plugged in.
  • Open the SD card again and confirm there is no footage left on the card.
7

Put the SD card back and charge the GoPro

Reset the camera so it is ready for the next use.

  • Put the SD card back into the camera in the same direction it came out.
  • Do not force it — push gently until the spring system clicks it into place.
  • Leave the side door open and plug the GoPro into a USB-C cable to charge.
  • Make sure the GoPro is charging before you walk away.
8

Put everything back in the bag

Keep the kit complete, organized, and ready for the next technician.

  • Put all mounts, harnesses, adapters, screws, plates, and loose pieces back into the big bag.
  • Put the GoPro and extra SD card back into the small bag when they are not charging.
  • Check that nothing is missing, damaged, or left behind.
